For the last several months, I have been working feverishly attempting to get caught up on my commission schedule. To date, I have four more to go. As it typically goes with inspiration, when it rains, it pours! That's the great part...ideas coming left and right. The only downside is that most of them, while great for some personal projects I'm wanting to do, are not feasible for the commissions! I'll take it though! The other challenge is getting all the ideas down in a usable format so I can recall them when I actually have time to work on them. Leonard Bernstein once said that greatness requires 2 things: Inspiration and not quite enough time...I believe it!!!
It has been a productive four months! Here are my most recent works completed. Some are commissions, some are not. There are other pieces in various states of completion that I am trying crank out as well. If you are interested in hearing and/or purchasing any of these, let me know! Hallelujah! Additionally all of Brian's currently completed music is now available for purchase online. Most items have recordings or renderings as well as sample scores and descriptions. This has been a monumental undertaking but our hope is that it adds value and functionality to the site and helps you to get your hands on some of the latest and greatest music we have to offer. Check it out and let us know what you think! More terrific music is in its way soon! Brian After nearly an entire years hiatus from writing, I am finally beginning to compose again. The past year has been the most difficult of my life. I will forever be grateful to my friends who have worked so diligently to get me through this time.
My hope is that there will be some new information and resources I will be able to make available soon that will be useful, especially in the areas of sacred choral music for children, youth, and adults as well as some addtional handbell and instrumental music as well. Thank you once again to those who have stuck by me and walked with me through these dark days. Thanks as well to all of you who continue to support my creativity and who find my music helpful and useful for teaching instruction and worship. Brian My family has undergone major life changes in the past 7 weeks. Due to these changes, my current projects have been put temporarily on hold long enough for me to provide the care needed for my children and myself. I hope to return to writing soon.
It's been a busy summer. There has been little time to write, but what time I've had has been used fully! I've written four new handbell arrangements and completed another selection that had been put on hold. Also, two choral anthems have been composed, one for adults and
We premeired the new "Seven Last Words of Christ" on Palm Sunday. The end was result was fantastic. I am currently working on some last edits prior to getting this off to the publisher. Quite a few new projects on the horizon, some very exciting...just
March has been a busy month! I've directed another workshop for Jeffers for advanced ringers and met some terrific people...very encouraging for the future of handbell ringing! With Choir Festival and other church activities, there has been little to no time for writing...my composition to-do list is overflowing...hoping to get caught up after Easter...still have two weekend bell trips coming up with a bell tour and Richmond Festival...life is cranking along!
Time is flying by! Final touches have been put on several proofs from three different publishers this month. Witness sang through the first draft of "The Lord Is My Shepherd" anthem, and then with some minor re-writes, it has been completed. Again, a bit more editing needs to be done on two more handbell arrangements and they will be ready for publication.
There are several more large scale projects on the table now, spending a good deal of time contemplating which one I will tackle next. The next couple of months will be incredibly busy with two festivals, a tour, and Easter...not likely to be much writi It has been a busy month! With a trip to San Diego, a weekend Choir Retreat, weekend bell retreat, and composing percussion parts for an upcoming Orchestra rehearsal, there has been little time for composing.
I am reworking a few sections of the Orchestra parts for the new "Seven Last Words" that will be premiered in April and is now in rehearsal. I also have three choral works under-way that are to be finished by the end of February. Thanks for checking out the b |
