The DIX tune is set for 2-3 octaves with optional C-instrument. Interplay between bells and the C-instrument gives variety and warmth to this arrangement. Malleted patterns and snippets of the melody in the middle section build to a grandiose chordal rendition of the tune before closing with a flurry of shakes, marts, mallets, and rung bells |
Gentle Mary Laid Her Child (TEMPUS ADEST FLORIDUM) is arranged for 2-3 octaves with two optional C instruments (flute and oboe preferred). The setting utilizes a variety of textures, syncopations, time signatures, and techniques to provide rhythmic interest throughout. Anything but gentle, this piece is exciting and a nice challenge for handbell groups.
